Building trust through community conversations

Does this sound familiar? You’re told that simply increasing law enforcement presence in a community will result in enhanced trust and positive relationships. But, despite your efforts, you still feel that disconnect and lack of cooperation from the community. It's time to acknowledge the pain of ineffective actions and explore a new approach to crime prevention and connection through community conversations.

In today’s episode, I’m talking with Scott Moore, who joined the Louisville PD in 2021 as a crime prevention specialist. He is a certified Environmental Design Practitioner and specializes in crime prevention safety assessments. His areas of proficiency also include wellness, community outreach, and supporting quality of life.

Scott recognizes the importance of fostering trust and positive relationships within the community. Scott's passion lies in empowering community members to take an active role in preventing crime and creating safer environments. He is an advocate for the power of building authentic relationships to reduce crime rates and enhance community well-being. Scott's friendly and approachable demeanor makes him a valuable asset in bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community. With his unwavering commitment to service, Scott is dedicated to elevating the call to service and creating lasting positive change in the community.

In a world filled with skepticism and distrust, Scott had an unexpected twist in his journey. Little did he know that his transition from the private and nonprofit sectors would lead him to a profound realization—that his calling was to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community, fostering trust and connection.

Being in community and meeting people in some of their darker times and being able to give them a resource that might pull them out of that and to get them into a new place is something I really enjoy. - Scott Moore
